The M2481 is vailable in versions that read 3480 or 3490 tapes. The Fujitsu M2481 above is shown resting on its necessary controller. The M2481 is designed to mount in a standard 19 inch equipment rack. It can, of course be placed on a desktop instead. With an automatic cartridge loader (ACL), these drives support five and ten cartridge magazines. Most users prefer the M2485 to this drive because of the form factor.
The M2483 and M2485 are self contained unit designed to sit on a desktop or on a shelf in an equipment rack. Its small footprint lets it blend into any computer room. The M2485 is available in B (which read and writes 3480 only) and H versions (which read and write 3480 and 3490 tapes). An autoloader is optional on all drives. The 2488 is Fujitsu's top of the line drive. It reads 3480, 3490, and 3490e. The 2488 also comes in a small footprint desktop unit. The 2488c reads 3480, 3490, and 3490e and writes 3490e. The 2488e read and writes 3480,3490 and 3490e. This drive is available in a desktop configuration. With an automatic cartridge loader (ACL), these drives support five and ten cartridge magazines.
