High-performance data interchange
Full 18-track, 3480- or 3490-compatible format for data interchange comes with optimized performance with a broad range of computers. Greater storage capacity results from IBM IDRC-compatible data compression, and 3 MB/second native transfer rates add to high performance
A 25,000-hour Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) rate combines with the fewest number of Field Replaceable Units (FRU) in 3480/3490-class products for extremely high reliability. Automatic power-on self diagnostics with fault isolation minimizes down time.
Advanced design features
Integrated 18-channel read/write electronics permit a compact size and improved quality. The device controller and computer/device interface are also integrated. Third-generation tape-path design produces precise tape alignment and gentle tape handling.
Quiet, compact and attractive
These drives make a sharp-looking addition to any computer room desktop. Their attractive case and small form factor makes them easy to integrate into most computer rooms.
